David was born in
1864 in Co Tyrone Ireland son of John and Phoebe
Gordon.
He emigrated to USA and 1st moved to Philadelphia in 1895, then Minneapolis 1896
where he was employed as a Street Car Conductor and Labourer in
Flour Mills Minneapolis before starting at Hamline University St Paul
Minnesota where he studied Pharmacy and Medecine - he graduated as
medical doctor in1897. He practised medecine in
Ellmore
Minnnesota 1897-1902 then moved to Albert Lea Freeborn County
Minnesota. He became an American citizen in 1904He was a coroner in Freeborn County
and also a member of Blue
Earth Valley & Minnesota State Medical Societies, the Commercial Club and IOOF,
MWA and Eagles.
Residences -1910 was Grace St, Albert Lea, Minnesota
, 1920 was 292 4th Ave Minneapolis and 1930 was 4106 Nicollet Ave Minneapolis

He married Mattie Lucretia Trow in 1897. She was the daughter of Anthony C Trow
and Orinda L Wiggins from Merrimack New London New Hampshire. Their daughter Beatrice was born 1900. They divorced, and in 1920 Mattie married Ralph E Morris in South Dakota. She died in 1943. |
Mattie's sister Ida Mae Trow married another doctor
in 1891 -
William L Palmer, born 1867, son of Rev Daniel Palmer (1824-1872), Baptist
pioneer from Indiana and his wife Mary Caroline Buck (1825-1887)who married in 1845 in New York.
Rev Daniel's father Zaccheus Marshall Palmer (1776-1860) was also a preacher. He died in Panama, Chautauqua Co., NY
Ida Mae and William L had a son Foster Clinton born 1893, also a surgeon
They lived in Shell Rock township, Glenville village, Freeborn Co Minnesota then Fountain St and Shoreland Heights in what is now Albert Lea. William was a Civil War Union veteran - had enlisted 1861 and left 1865 |
