John Caldwell Smith 1862-1942, 3rd son of Matthew and Eliza, married a Miss McGuire/Maguire - named either Rachel Maguire OR Louisa Charlotte McGuire according to marriage certificates of her daughters.

They had 3 children - a) Evelyn Rachel b 1889, b) Walter b 1892 and c) Ada Louise b 1894. After the death of his wife, John and the children went to Canada in 1908 - they lived in  Toronto in 272 Bain St. John returned to Ireland in 1930s.
Some of the family moved to Erie Pennsylvania

a) Evelyn Rachel 1886 - 1990 married Alexander Stephen Dunbar, architect  b1890 in Canada.- on 15 May 1917. He was one of 7 children (son of Alexander Dunbar 1847-1918  and Christina MacDonald 1857-1932 from Scotland  who lived at 885 Shaw St York Toronto)  Evelyn and Alexander had 1 daughter Kathleen Mary  1917 - 1983.

Kathleen Mary married Joseph Kelly 1918 -1995 from Limavady Co Derry. He was a Tool & Die Maker. Joseph's father was John who emigrated to Canada in July 1929 and lived at 502 Central Ave London Ontario

Joseph and Kathleen moved to California in 1948. At that time they were living at 22 Tichester Rd Apt 105 Toronto. They crossed to USa via Detroit Border Crossing at Port Huron. They said that their move would be permanent and their destination was the home of Mary Downes 2440 S Bundy Dr Los Angeles

Both
Joseph and Kathleen Kelly lived at Newbury Park Ventura California when they died.

Evelyn later divorced Alexander Dunbar. She moved to California to be near her daughter Kathleen Kelly. Evelyn died at Panorama City, Los Angeles.

Services held for Kay Kelly, 1st clerk for city of Camarillo

Private services were held for retired Camarillo City Clerk Kathleen Mary "Kay" Kelly of Newbury Park, who died Wednesday morning at the age of 66.
 
Mrs. Kelly died at a Thousand Oaks hospital after a brief illness. Services were conducted by the Rev Ron Robertson. Private inurnment is planned.
 
Mrs. Kelly was born May 25, 1917, in Toronto, Canada. She came to the county 20 years ago from Los Angeles. She was hired by the first Camarillo City Council in 1964; shortly after the city was incorporated, and became the first paid employee. She retired as city clerk 18 years later in December 1982.
 
She was a member of the League of California Cities and the International City Clerks Association. She is survived by her husband, Joseph.
 
Arrangements are under the direction of the Griffin Brothers Funeral Chapel, Thousand Oaks.

 

b) Walter was born 1892 and probably died during WW2.

c) Ada Louise 1894 -1968 married Clarence Joseph Raymond.1895-1973  on 28 Jul 1917. He was from Erie Pennsylvania and was a traveller. They moved to 540 East 8th Erie Pennsylvania where Clarence was enlisted for WW1.  They had 4 children - 3 girls and a boy. Ada died in 1968 at  
Allentown, Lehigh, PA and Clarence Joseph in 1973 in Philadelphia

Clarence was the son of Marshall Edward Raymond, a Canadian born 1870 and Barbara Eva Heisler born 1870 in Pennsylvania, daughter of a Swiss father and a German mother. Her mother was a dressmaker. Marshall and Barbara had 3 children, Clarence, Elizabeth C 1905-1992 and Mildred 1908-1993, in Michigan.Elizabeth died in Erie and Mildred in Utica, Oneida, NY.
