| Eliza McCaskie was born Jan 1825 in Ardstraw Ireland, daughter of James McAskie , who farmed at Creevy, Ardstraw. In 1841, Elizabeth emigrated to Australia, aged 16 years, under the Bounty Scheme - on the three masted barque Moffat - on the same ship and under the protection of her brother John. Her calling was Housemaid. They were brought out by Nicholas James Esq Agent The ship of 829 tons sailed from Plymouth on 23 January 1841 and arrived in Sydney 128 days later on 31 May 1841 |

The Bounty Immigration System started in 1832 and continued until 1845. Skilled males received £20 against future wages. |
John married Catherine Haliburton-Neillans in Sydney on 24/9/1850.
John, Catherine & Elizabeth emigrated further to San Francisco to join the Gold Rush - on the ship the John Calvin
They arrived after 180 days on May 24 1851 having travelled via Honolulu and Sandwich Islands (It took 21 days Honolulu to San Francisco)

John & Catherine returned to Australia in 1857 on the Spree
| Elizabeth(1823-1908) stayed in San Francisco. She married Thomas Noble (1827-1878) from Scotland before 1852. It is not clear if she met him in Australia or later in San Francisco However Thomas does not appear in US 1850 Census so likely They had 7 children, but in the 1900 Census Eliza said that she had Here is the family I have found:- |

James M (1854- ?) 3 Thomas M (1857-1886) thought to be single.4.Annie E S (1859-1945). 5 Mary M (1862-1944) The Nobles lived first at 5 Ellis Street then 616 McAllister Street Other child? - Francis Noble who married Emma Chipman in 1875 -shows daughter born 1878. San Francisco Call Newspaper Records for 1869-1891 Also a Frank Noble was living in 268 Golden Gate Avenue in 1899-90 - the Coey relatives lived at 1220 Golden Gate Ave (see below) |

| William Noble (1853-1938) married Fannie R Reimer (1860-1949) in 1908. In 1910 they lived in Assembly District 39 - street not identified. In 1920 and 1930 they lived ijn the same district and in Locust St William & Fannie died in San Francisco. Fannie was born in Germany. Her parents were born in Oldenburg Prussia Germany Her mother was Heriger & she had a niece Orio Reimer from Germany. Anna wrote during 1889 -1891 to her cousin Agnes Moodie McCaskie in Australia. She wrote from 616 Mc Allister St; - they were building "flats to rent" at 1220 Golden Gate Avenue with her brothers William and Thomas and her sister Mary - they moved to occupy some of the flats in 1890. In 1910 however they were living at Sacramento St and he was a clerk at US Customs House. William's father William B was also living there. |

In 1890, Annie Coey, together with her family, her sister Mary Hubbard and
family and one brother and family moved to 1220 Golden Gate Ave San Francisco, where they
had built a 15 room house 8 above & 7 below. They lived in the lower & rented the
upper. These letters led to this research. The photos have been kindly contributed by my NSW McCaskie "cousins"
