Hugh and Margaret Jane McCaskie

Margaret McCaskie was Hugh Neilson's second wife.

This is the only branch of the family which retained the original name Neilson. 

From the family history by D. Gayle  in 1991 in her book, "The Neilson- Kith & Kin." 

John, son of John and Janet Weir Neilson was born on 4 June 1803.

He married Sarah Sinclair, born 1813 in Beauly, Invernesshire, Scotland

They had 2 sons - Hugh Sinclair   born in  1833 and John born 1836.

John died in 1835 it is said when his cutter overturned and he hit his head on a rock

Sarah then married his friend James Cameron born 1806,  in 1837. They raised Sarah's 2 sons and their daughter Elizabeth born 1838.Sarah died in 1897.

Hugh Sinclair and John married 2 sisters.

Hugh married Susanna Moore in 1860 and John married Elizabeth Jane Moore. They were the daughters of James Moore 1797-1849 of Belturbet, Ireland He married Susannah Best 1806 -1878  in Emily Township, Victoria County, Ontario in 1823.
Hugh Sinclair and Susanna had 2 children Susannah Elizabeth 1863 -1880 and John E. B - possibly stillborn, May 1870 Susanna died in September 1870. Susanna and her son are buried together in Cameron Cemetery
John and Elizabeth Jane Moore had one daughter Elizabeth Mary. Both parents died in 1868.Their daughter was adopted by an aunt Mrs Blezard. She married a Mr Strong/Strang and died about 1940		Tombstone of John Neilson
Hugh Sinclair then married Margaret Jane McCaskie, daughter of James and Ann Speer McCaskie Hugh died in 1908 and his wife Margaret Jane in 1925

They had 3 children Hilliard Stanley,   Hector Cameron and James S.

They also raised Frederick Oscar Neilson, son of Hilliard, born 1895.

There may be photos of Hugh, Margaret and their sons - I am in touch with someone in Alberta, Canada.
 

Hilliard Stanley 1875-1966 was born in  Otonabee Township. He became a Lt-Col . He married Mabel Alberta Lobb in 1908 - daughter of John and Agnes Elmhirst Lobb. Mabel Alberta died in 1955 in Westwood..Their son Stuart J was born in 1909.

Hector Cameron 1879 -1953 married Ruby "Lily" Luella Christie born 1886 on 15 Jan 1904. Her parents were  Edward Christie and Janet Beckett Fife. Hector died in Lethbridge, Alberta Their children were:- Albert James  born 1905  Jean Margaret born 1906  Stanley Robert  1908 -1959  Hugh born 1909  Leslie born 1910  Dolly not known	Hector Cameron Sinclair	Lily Sinclair

Stanley Robert married on 26 Jun 1942 at Medicine Hat, Alberta to Charlotte Ann Keeler born 1911 at Dunhoff, North Dakota daughter of Chandler Keeler and Christina Eccles
