Neilands descent

Abraham Knelands lived in Meaghy in the Parish of Ardstraw in 1666 according to the Hearth Money Rolls

Various other spellings of the name existed from then until the 18th Century:- Neelons, Neilans, Knilance.

Later John Neelons(Knilands), a farmer of Creeduff Termonamongan born about 1715 - married Helen Kyle daughter of Robert Kyle of Creeduff.

Robert leased to John - in 1752 - 1/2 of the townland of Kerryduff, known as Gortendarragh and Edenmore for 31 years or the lives of John, Helen and Abraham their son, born about 1745.

They had another son Robert (Robin) born 1755 and a daughter.

In a deed dated 1814 Robert is mentioned as having a farm bordering the eastern boundary of a farm belonging to the Kyle family between the Derg river and the southern Killeter-Castlederg road

Two Neilands brothers went to New Zealand  - John & Robert Neilands -  John was born about 1856 in Woodside, parish of Termonamongan, County Tyrone, Ireland. He married in Dunedin South Island in 1890 and had 8 children. Robert has descendants in Waikanae.

Parents of these brothers were Robert Neilands (farmer) and Eliza Clark who married in Termonamongan on 24 December 1845

I am in touch with descendants - not sure how they fit in with this tree

In the List of Persons who served Notices on the Clerk of the Peace of their intention to Register Freeholds posted Strabane Morning Post 19 May 1829  - Andrew, John and James Neelance of Derrygoon - Andrew & John can be identified from the Tithe Applotment Census 1834, but James has not been identified anywhere else

In 1834 Tithe Applotment Census  Andrew and John Neilands are listed at Derrygoon and Robert Neilands at Magheralough just 5 minutes away.

1829 Freeholder’s Register for Co. Tyrone - James, Andrew & John Neilands of Derrygoon registered

Also at around that time a William Neilands married Anne ? - nothing more is known about them.

Also unknown are  Ellen born 18/09/1860 daughter of Thomas and Martha Neilands - baptism records of Cavandoragh Church

Robert had a daughter Sarah born 1806 - see the Moore descent below - which probably makes Robert a generation earlier than Andrew. The name Robert Neilands shows up over the years on many of the family marriage certificates.

Andrew Neilands had the following children:- Samuel and John.

Also a Margaret Neilands was born 16 May 1866 - not sure of her parentage .Also a Robert born1853 lived with his widowed aunt - Elizabeth Neilands in Derrygoon born about 1812 - at 1901 census. She was born about 1812
