4 Thomas James McAskie, b 20 August 1855, went to USA from Canada and married Eliza Ann Norton born on 11 Aug,1857 in Marshall Co IA - they married there about 1875. Thomas James and Eliza Ann attended Presbyterian Church, Sac City Iowa.. In 1895 they were in Jackson Town Sac Co along with Thomas James' brother John

(Eliza Ann's parents were Eli Norton 1823-1901 from Cork Ireland and Catherine Gilmore. Eliza Ann had a sister Fannie who married Ed Williams. She died in 1947 after the back bow of her apron caught fire as she turned from the stove)

Mary born 24 March 1894, married Charles Schanzenbach, born 7 Sep 1896 -  in 1921 in Midland Haakon Pennington - a cowboy in South Dakota - he raised horses and cattle.

They had 3 children probably all still living.

When prices dropped in South Dakota, the Schanzenbachs moved in 1929 to Tacoma, Washington State  - where work was plentiful & the climate milder. South Dakota has a severe winter climate A Schanzenbach family member froze to death in a snowstorm when he lost his way form the barn to the house. 2 cousins are still there and have expanded to 3 thousand acres

They travelled west in a freight train with their household belongings. It was the only way to be sure they didn't lose any household goods on the trip

Charles Schanzenbach's family came from Minehart Germany originally and came to S Dakota in 1904 from Moscow Iowa. They  were neighbours of the McCaskies. Charles died in Jun 1982 and Mary Feb 1986 - both at Tacoma, Pierce, Washington

Eliza Ann died in 1909 in Sioux City; James then homesteaded in Fort Pierre S Dakota. He received free land and lived in a sod house. In 1930 James was lodging in a house at Haakon Midland Town S Dakota. He died in Iowa in 1935
