Dr.Samuel Donaldson, who retired to the Cape five years ago, and who lately
lived at Muizenberg, died in Cape Town on Sunday April 2nd.
Dr. Donaldson formerly practised on the Witwatersrand. and after a period
of service with the Rand Mines,
Ltd., became chief medical officer of the Crown Mines.
He was born in County Donegal, Ireland. in 1877, and qualified MRCS
(Eng.) and LRCP.(Lond.) in 1901 at St. Marys Hospital, London, after having
spent his first three years of medical
study at Dublin Universitv. He came to South Africa after the
Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. He
was assistant physician to the Johannesburg Hospital and contributed several
articles on professional subjects to the old Medical Record and to this
Journal.
He is survived by his widow
