William Donaldson  married Catherine Margaret Williamson. They lived in Iskaheen or Eskaheen, Cabry, Muff, Inishowen, N E Donegal. William was a brother of Samuel who lived in Templemore Parish

William and Catherine had 8 children:-
Mary was born in Ireland and married but where/who? Margaret stayed in Ireland and did not marry Jane married  Mr Daiton Nancy married Robert McMonigle and they had 7 children
John 1833-93 -died in Australia
Andrew 1829-94  married Ann Orr 1831-97 on 27 February 1852  in Derry Registry Office. They died in Tatura, Vic, Australia.

Their 7 children, born between 1853 and 1872 were:- William,    George Alexander,     Ann,    Ruth,
Margaret Jane,    Andrew John  and   David
Samuel 1842-1920 married 3 times He died in Donegal.

Samuel's first wife is unknown. He then married Jane Jack -1883 in Ireland.  in 1870.Their daughter was Elizabeth married William Dickson. Their only child was Martha 1913 - 10/09/1921 died in Ireland
William, the youngest son, inherited the farm at Iskaheen and married Jemima Lyle - they had 2 children Margaret Jane b 1884 and Jemima b 1886.

Jemima married Mr Allen and they lived at Three Trees, Quigley Point, Donegal.

Jemima Allen provide the Irish family history to an Australian descendant  in 1964.

The Donaldsons worshipped at Knowhead Presbyterian Church.  

Andrew Donaldson 1829-94 told grandchildren that in Ireland they used to tie the legs of their animals together before taking them in a yawl across the Irish Sea to Scotland where they had land

Another family anecdote relates the story of a Major Donaldson who was granted land for the part he had played in leading a Scots Regiment to relieve the Siege of Derry - this seems unlikely, however during the 1700s there were many periods of unrest and a Scottish Highland regiment might have been sent then.

A Major Donaldson is mentioned in the Clan Septs and Regiment of the Scottish Highlands by Frank Adam (revised by Sir Thomas Innes of Learney   --- see Appendix 11)
